Summer vacation is around the corner, so make it fruitful
Summer holiday is just around the corner, and you must already be planning for these few months of joy and rest. You may be hoping to meet your favourite cousins and play with them all day, or your parents might be preparing a vacation to a place you always wanted to visit. Either way, you would have planned by now how you will go towards enjoying your summer vacation.
Summer is the season of fun. There are a lot of outdoor and indoor activities that kids can take up during the summer to not only enjoy but also take back home some fruitful life lessons.
Here are some fun summer holidays activities for kids which are sure to enhance your child’s life positively.
1. Nature-based activities for kids:
Nature activities for students are a great way to spend their vacation learning about and spending time with nature. Gardening is one such activity children can bank on to get closer to mother nature. You can look up the net and understand how you can plant a variety of vegetables in your garden. If you do not have a garden you can plant some seeds in plastic jars, old boots, or anything available. Gardening will teach your children to be responsible for their actions and will also boost nurturing skills. Some long-lasting activities like watering the plants, trimming them, and talking to them will help them understand the challenges of raising a plant all by themselves.
2. Outdoor activities for kids:
There is nothing like packing for a picnic and having a day filled with outdoor activities. It could be a trek or a visit to a monument or even a day at the mall. Nothing beats a green land with ample space to run about in today’s space-constrained world. Therefore, we recommend you look for green and luscious picnic spots which not only give you a sense of good surroundings but also allow you space to run and have fun. On the other hand, you could even make an outing to a nearby park where the kids can play games like frisbee or ball and eat too. There is always a fair or mela occurrence in the city during this vacation time, and you can take your kids there to explore. If nothing else, go to the market to explore different shops or try food your kids haven’t tried before. It could be an exercise that the family can do together.
3. Art and craft activities for kids:
There are many arts and crafts activities that kids can take part in. The recent DIY trend also allows kids to probably make/build/construct items on their own. These DIY activities not only help boost creativity but also aids thinking out of the box. Additionally, if you have nothing fancy to play with, children can take marbles and coat them in other coloured posters or oil paints. Then they can roll those marbles around on the artwork. This is a nice way to teach your kids that they can recycle old items like newspapers to make unique things. There are a lot of art activities available online that can do with just newspaper, glue, and scissors.
4. Learning self-defence:
All said and done, we know we enjoy our vacation time to the fullest but it is critical to acquire certain life skills that will help us in the near future. In this day and age, uncontrollable crimes are occurring all across the globe, and the principle is essential that individuals, especially fair sex (girls), learn some form of self-defence/martial arts. That will help them stand strong as life throws them such unexpected challenges, and they will become more capable of taking care of themselves.
5. Learn swimming/cycling/skating:
When vacations are not far first thing that comes to one’s head is to go for a swim or to learn some new critical skill. There are dime a dozen skills you can choose from to acquire like cycling, skating or even learning a sport professionally like football/cricket/tennis, etc.
SUMMING UP:
Every child looks forward to the summer vacation as a time of rest and rejuvenation. Summer vacations aid children to catch up on new places and spend time with friends and family. Over and above all the physical activities recommended above, children can also consider attending some helpful workshops to enhance their English skills. Additionally, students who are looking for studies abroad post their 10th std can also consider learning a new language which can make their future brighter.
At Harshad Valia International School, we advise parents to allow their children to explore their interests during these summer breaks and if your child is keen to take it up seriously invest in the training and coaching to make them better at it.
